Kingston Community School in South Australia has won this year’s Cows Create Careers Advertising Competition, winning $1,000 to be spent on educational programs for their school.
Every year, Cows Create Careers, in partnership with MaxCare, invite schools across Australia to create an advertisement for the dairy industry.
The competition is part of an educational programme to encourage the best and brightest students to pursue a career in the dairy industry.

Competing against 220 schools across Australia, Kingston Community School commented on their win, “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the program and we’re very proud of our students for their creative work.” Said Katie Hines, Agriculture Coordinator.
The SADA Cows Create Careers programme provides a practical and insightful introduction to the dairy industry, demonstrating the different career opportunities in the Australian dairy industry. This hands-on educational programme is delivered to approximately 220 schools each year and involves 15,000 students across Australia.
Program Manager, Deanne Kennedy comments “Every year we bring 2 calves into schools across Australia, giving students a hands-on approach into the dairy industry, by feeding and caring for the calves for 3 weeks. The programme educates students on all the different career opportunity available to them in the dairy industry, from working directly with the cows to sales, marketing and advertising. It’s important to introduce this program into schools at a time when students are thinking about their future”.
“We could not do the programme without the support of MaxCare, who have been instrumental in providing Milk Replacer for our in-school calves across the country and financially supporting the program.” continued Ms Kennedy.
MaxCare Business Manager, Philip Spies said “We are very proud to be part of this industry initiative, educating and informing young people, who are interested in pursuing a career within the Australian diary industry.”
Kingston Community School did an excellent job in their advertisement with their bold colour and fun calf picture” continued Mr Spies.
The wining school was selected via a public voting system. This year we received 704 votes with Kingston Community School receiving 49% of the votes.
“We think the Cow’s Create Careers program is a fantastic initiative, as it shines a light on the industry and the vast career opportunities that exist for young people in the dairy industry,” said Mr Spies.
“The program is a great opportunity for dairy farmers and industry advocates who have vision and dairy industry knowledge to share their knowledge with the students and pass on valuable experience to the younger generation,” said Ms Kennedy.
The team at MaxCare work with Australian dairy farmers to achieve the most productive outcomes with their calves, believing this partnership is vital to growing a stronger Australian dairy industry and strengthening our regional communities.
