It’s been 10 years since Lyn Hall joined the Maxum team and we’re celebrating this awesome milestone. We caught up with Lyn to have a chat about her journey and to talk through some of the highlights during her time at Maxum.
Tell us a little bit about yourself
Born and bred in Invercargill, New Zealand. I’m a proud kiwi and many of my work colleagues can vouch for it. I worked in the rural sector for CRT/Farmlands in NZ for 11 years prior to moving across to Australia with my husband and family. I’ve been based in Brisbane since 2012 and have been with the Maxum Foods & MaxCare family since this time. I love the Brisbane lifestyle, both work and outside of work. All three of our children are now married and we are grateful to have eight grandkids keeping us busy.
Tell us a little bit about your journey at Maxum Foods
In my 10 years at Maxum, eight of those have been in the MaxCare division which was born in 2014. I have proudly assisted the team in the animal division to help it grow and flourish to where it is today.
I remember when I first started with Maxum Foods in May 2012, we had a small team of 12. We very busy as we had to cover all the facets of the business. It’s been great to see the company grow over the last 10 years.
What do you actually do?
I’m on the customer service side of the MaxCare business and it’s quite a diverse role. There’s lots of exciting moving parts and no two days are the same. I really enjoy building relationships and servicing our many customers and stores, ensuring their requirements are being met on time.
In my role I work closely with our Sales Managers in meeting their targets and ensuring our customers are happy and looked after.
Why MaxCare?
I was there when the brand was born and I kind of landed on this side of the business and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I also really love the company culture here and it hasn’t changed during my time.
What’s the one thing that has changed the most during your time here?
The growth of the business. I’ve seen so many more people being employed and filling new roles (and divisions).
Nicknames: What do they call you in the office?
I’ve got a few nicknames. They love to poke fun of my kiwi accent in the office, and I get called Lun or Lynnie mostly.
What is the best ‘work perk’ at Maxum Foods?
There are a few. We have many team building activities which a fun. We have a very active social club. We also get to host team lunches where I get to show off my cooking skills. Our health and wellbeing initiative is also unique to the company.
Do you have a favourite story from the last 10 years that you would like to share?
The highlight for me this year was when the full team including New Zealand got to go to Noosa for one of our quarterly conferences. It was great to catch up with the full team, do a quarterly planning session, a fun boat building team activity on the Noosa River and we finished off with an amazing team meal with Noosa as the backdrop. Lots of great memories made on this trip.
What do you get up to when you’re not at work?
I’m really family orientated and a busy nana. Most weekends I’m spending time with our children and grandchildren. My other passion is to explore new places. We recently purchased a caravan, so my husband and I do a lot of trips in and around Brisbane and when there is time, we like to explore further regions.
I’m also a keen renovator and I’m forever changing the interior of our home to suit the current styles that are in fashion.
Congratulations on 10 years Lyn, we are looking forward to many more years with you on the team!
